PIRATES AND SLAVES

A ship equipped with cannons sinks off the coast of Malta over 500 years ago. Is it a pirate ship? Or did the crew arm themselves so heavily to defend themselves from attacking pirates? A team of researchers is now examining the wreck for the first time and trying to find answers to these questions.

We were allowed to accompany all of this with the camera. Paired with elaborately filmed reenactments the film provides insights into the life of the pirate Balthasar Sturmer. The documentary brings the long gone world of 16th century pirates back to life!

On October 4, you can experience the history of 16th century piracy with us!

22:30 ON ORF 2 and afterwards on ORF ON!

green producing

Greenproducing is not just a buzzword for us, but an attitude that is reflected in all our areas of work.

For us, sustainability in film production means making responsible decisions on aneconomic, ecological and social level. Saving resources and implementing climate friendly measures along the entire production process is a sincere, special concern for us and all filmmakers and employees involved in our projects. It is therefore an essential part of our corporate philosophy.

Back in 2014, we developed and produced “The Green Lie”, one of the most successful cinema documentaries on the subject of sustainability - since then, we have implemented a variety of environmental, resource and climate protection measures in our daily work to make the production of our films even more sustainable.

about us

e&a film was founded in the summer of 2008.
Our philosophy is to entertain and yet challenge our audience.
Our productions encourage imagination, originality, and inventiveness.
Producing films must not become a matter of routine, because creativity and flexibility are indispensable elements of a successful production.
The language of film is global and has no limits.
